The Rarotonga Electricity Authority in the Cook Islands recently increased the generating capacity of its Avatiu Valley diesel power station by 2.6MW with the installation of a new 9L27/38 generating set supplied on a turnkey basis by MAN Diesel Australia.

Cost savings for the community

The island community is already benefiting from the low running costs of this highly efficient new generating set which is providing significant savings in the cost of expensive imported diesel fuel. Further savings are resulting from the low rate of lubricating oil consumption and low maintenance costs of the new unit.
