PROVEN RELIABILITY, ROBUSTNESS

MAN Engines introduced a new generation of in-line six cylinder engines, based on the highly successful and proven 12.4 litre D2676. The six-cylinder base engine has already been in use in numerous on- and off-road applications since 2007 and has proven itself hundreds of thousands of times. The robustness and reliability in the work boat industry has been further proven by extensive field testing over several thousand hours on ferries, pilot boats and high-speed catamarans.
Work boats such as passenger ferries, pilot boats and fishing boats and lifeboats install the D2676 providing a power range of 221 to 625 kW (301 to 850 HP) at light, medium or heavy duty ratings.
Many well known luxury yacht brands and Sportsfishers around the world choose the i6 from 730, 800 or 850HP within the light operation rating.

LOW NOISE AND VIBRATION = COMFORT

The modern common rail injection system used in the i6/D2676, with fuel pressures up to 1,800 bar, ensures high mean pressures and optimized combustion. In this way, MAN engineers achieve lower vibrations and noise emissions as well as low fuel consumption.

CLASS LEADING FUEL CONSUMPTION, SMOOTH OPERATION

The new i6/D2676 engines clearly show the wide torque plateau typical of MAN marine engines.

 

The most powerful variant 625 kW (850 HP) for example even provides 2,740 Nm between 1,400 and 2,100 rpm for light-duty operation.

 

This allows maximum torque to be realised over a wide speed range with the lowest specific fuel consumption. As a result, acceleration is continuous and the planing phase is highly efficient.

COMPACT AND LIGHTWEIGHT – DESIGNER AND BUILDER’S DREAM

For ship designers, the new in-line six-cylinder engines with dimensions of 1,800 x 922 x 1,103 mm (L x W x H) offer MAN’s usual compact dimensions – in this case with an even slimmer oil sump. At 1,200 kg (dry), the new engine generation also impresses with an even better power-to-weight ratio.

 

Pleasure boat manufacturers have embraced the award winning designer cover and engine aesthetics. With its elegant and timeless design, the engine perfectly matches the design language of modern luxury yachts. “The engine has always been the source of power and dynamics, which ship designers have expressed in their work. Now the circle closes with an MAN yacht engine as an art object in itself”, states Claus Benzler, Head of Marine MAN Engines.
